...My nose is so stuffed up, my head hurts, my throats so sore its all I can think about.

If I try real hard I can remember that my meeting at the hospital went well. I ran into an old
NAMI friend. We found it quite difficult to say anything positive about our experiences with the hospital. Of course we raved about the Schizophrenia society, and the Schizophrenia Clinic workers. Hopefully with everyone's input the hospital will not only review our comments and concerns but take some very important and much needed steps to implementing change. When our loved ones are ill and we are so vulnerable and needing care we should not have to fight and "work" the system to access much needed medical and social assistance.

Thursday was crazy day at our house. Len and I realized that Mika wasn't just mopy about the new kitten but horribly sick. By the time we rushed her to the vet she had a really high fever and could barely walk. Dr. Gould was amazing though. He checked everything over and gave her two types of antibiotics to fix her up. I worked at home to keep an eye on her and let myself feel better about the whole thing. By Friday night she was almost herself again, thank goodness. Len was pretty amazing. He just took control of the whole situation, knowing I was pretty upset. No matter what anyone else thinks Len is definitely my knight in shining armour. And he just keeps proving it time and time again. We took her to "Gramma's" house with Aki to hang out with Kaiyou. It wasn't so bad. Aki was a bullet most of the time tearing up the house one second downstairs the next up, then back down again. Kaiyou was pretty tolerant of the little ornage tornado. Mika and Kaiyou never bother each other so we were happy for that.
Saturday was crazy running around day, trying to keep gramma's Suprise party a secret. We managed to pull it off with a good attendance of gramma's family. Gramma was so cute and gracious when she came into the room. It was very sweet. She went from table to table, we finally had to tear her away to give her corsage to her! Everyone had an awesome time. I met some family mambers I had not met yet, gramma's sister, her niece. Saw some old family friends. It was great. The food was yummy, we almost demolished TWO large slab cakes from Cost-co, and no we didn't put all of the 250 candles Carol bought on the cakes. We divided up 85 onto the two cakes. I can't wait to see the picures that everyone took. We of course did one huge family pic, I think we managed to get everyone in....it was a squeeze. I think thats the first time we've had all those people together for a very long time.

Sunday was actually pretty crappy. I started to feel sick on Friday night, staying awake all night with a terribly sore throat, I managed to push it aside for the party but it fought back with avengence Saturday night/Sunday morning. I basically slept most of Sunday, missed Ephraim's party :( ....trust me Jamie you wouldn't have wanted me around your kids! So thats all, thats the short version. I didn't accomplish any knitting....I need to go to Wal-Mart for another ball of "lashes". I have a meeting at the hospital tonite regarding how the hospital deals with patients with mental illnesses, their families, and support services offered. Should be interesting. Hopefully it will have some impact for the positive. We'll see, I'll keep you posted.

View Article  My Saturday....
...as most people know I value my Saturdays very much. After being at university and never really having a day off then the long struggle of extricating myself from the retail vortex I had found myself in, it so nice to count on my Saturdays.

Yesterday in particular was great. I started my day off fairly early (yes, by my standards!) Jamie and I had to go shopping at Wal-Mart. Any excuse I tell yah! It was a quick trip but we had loads of fun. Not bad considering Jamie hadn't had her tea yet and I brought my coffee with me! Jamie picked up a top for a wedding she was attending later that day, we pulled apart countless packages of nylons, trying to ensure Jamie would not be ripping them from her body halfway through the church service! Oh and the sales staff was so helpful!
I asked a blue smock standing next to another blue smock if she worked in the department, she said no and the one that did walked off. So I tracked her down and told her we wanted "this" exactly but in black, so she says, "you'll have to look for it". I tell you the customer service at Walmart Peterbrorough is OUTSTANDING!.

Then I had a long talk with my mom on teh phone, it was great. We visited about everything. It was nice.

After breakfast (really lunch!) I went down to
Yarn Ewetopia. They just recently relocated into my neighborhood so I thought I would wander down and check them out. I told Len I would go take a look, ask a few questions and be back no later than an hour then we would go grocery shopping......3 hours later I came home. Cathy is the owner of the store and she is absolutely amazing. Not only did she help me pick out colours and wool for a project, but she also sat me down and showed me a better way to do another project. Of, course, most of the stuff I did not know how to do so she gave me a start, then showed me how to continue. We sat and visited and knitted. It was very cool. And look at what I can do now!

After that Len and I went and picked up some awesome fall beer, (a dark stout perfect for cold weather), hit the grocery store, came home had shepherds pie for dinner a few beers, knitted and watched Lilo and Stitch. (love that movie).

So all in all a very nice Saturday.
