Ross and Amanda don't realize this but Len and I snuck a sneak preview tour of their new house this past weekend, and we'd thought we'd post some "before" pictures on the web! :)

It was so nice, I filled up my camelback, buckled on my helmet and off I went. I rode up to Jackson's Creek and took the old railbed route, knowing this would be easiest on my knee. It was a fairly busy time of the evening so I didn't see any wildlife, you have to go pretty early in the morning for that. I turned around after the 2km mark, (marked from the center of the park) made it about 20 feet up the trail when I realized something was wrong. I stopped my bike, turned around and wouldn't you know it, my back tire was flat. I tried to keep going but i had absolutely no air left, so instead of wrecking my rim I decided to walk. Very quickly, my pride at my pregancy exercise, despite my knee injury was totally gone. I was so bummed out. I ended up walking about 3 km to get home. I'm not defeated though, Len has promised me he'll put in a new tube by Friday night so we can go out together. At least that way, if anything happens, I'll have company for the walk home!

Ah, its the event I wait for every spring...the last weekend in May....the almost every family on Gilmour street I awoke at an ungodly hour of the morning, showered, grabbed my biggest "purse" and headed out with pockets of change. The weather was fantastic! It was probably the best turnout in years. It seemed every second house was involved, and it has spread to neighboring streets. It took about 3 hours of "power shopping" to cover the entire length of Gilmour and Homewood. So what did I buy? I bought an armful of beautiful wools from europe, a pattern book, some "old fashioned" clothes pins, a huge bag of wooden beads, a really neat box with drawers that has photo album sleeves inside, two cat harnesses, and two really awesome wooden chairs. Len bought a few magazines and a Stephen King book. We also bought a crib for only $10!! Its clean, has a mattress and is safe for our new baby! Thank goodness we had my mother-in-laws car! What a day! What a haul! I can't wait for next year!
